Asus Netbook

I have been asked to review an Asus netbook. Here is my review on an Asus netbook model. Unlike the ultra-glossy finish of the parts around, the individual keys have a nice matte finish and are soft to the touch. Threshing is made more enjoyable by the slight inclination caused by the wedge-shaped body and excellent mechanical keys, which have a good trip and respond with precision.

Also the size of the keys is generally satisfactory considering the limitations due to size. The only drawback is the small left shift key: center it will take some 'practice. For the rest there are no surprises in terms of layout of keys. Due to limited space there are no separate function keys, but all the important features are activated using the function key (Fn). The only exception is the button above the keyboard, for approval / disabling the touchpad.

As for the 1008HA model, even for the Eee PC 1101HAl'area support of the palms and the touchpad are a single entity without edges or grooves. The touch-sensitive area is distinguished by its concave surface. Although it is a bit 'strange at first, most users get used to quickly and easily. More problematic that, with the basic settings, the ‘tap to click’ and ‘Multi-touch’ is active with unforeseen consequences.

The touch pad buttons seem to form a single chrome button. However only respond well to the sides, while the unit requires more pressure and cannot respond to pressure.

The touchpad can easily be disabled at any time. The key that allows it is positioned above the keyboard on the left. Mirror image of the power button, remember the key 'PowerSmart' that is often found on Acer notebooks.

The integrated display manufactured by AU Optronics Corp. (AUO), B116XW02V0 model, provides a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels screen 16:9. In addition to the reflective screen, often considered inappropriate in the case of netbooks, it is not impressed by the netbook for the same brightness. The value of maximum brightness, measured in segment bottom left of the screen is 135 cd/m2. The distribution is good, with uniformity dell83%. Overall, the Netbook is not suitable for continuous use at work or outdoors. Once again this demonstrates that the orientation of these products to their market segment.

With a black level of 0.6 cd/m2 and the maximum value light recorded in the central sector, the netbook reaches a good contrast of 198:1. Also the colors are clear and vibrant.

While the horizontal viewing angle is generous, the vertical things are much worse. While small deviation from the optimum lead to image distortion in the form of dark images when viewed from below, over-lighted when seen from above. Reversals can occur at angles greater tone. Although the corners are larger on the horizontal axis, we must confront the most annoying reflections because of the angle plate.

We tried to improve the brightness of the screen with the program Eeectl. However, with the Asus Eee PC 1101HA this has brought no improvement and the screen remained dark.

Besides not getting results in this case, it is right to stress that Asus is not recommended for use, citing possible damage to the screen and / or graphics adapter. You should use it only if you understand the risks, including the warranty invalidation.
